According to Japan media reports, though police has eliminated it to be a case of homicide and suspect it to be natural death or suicide, they are unable to provide the actual reason of death until the post mortem is out.Iijima was a famous AV model before she became a normal artiste.

On 24 Feb, 2008, a blog post Iijima wrote reveal that she had contracted gastric problems and was taking anti-depression pills. Depressing content flooded her blog and on Nov 30, she wrote that she "often felt lonely".
